Follow My Safety Tips
The Internet is a powerful tool that is very helpful for most people everyday around the world. This can also make the internet a dangerous place, too.
Here are some safety tips to remember when using the internet:
Ask your parents first
One of the most important safety rules I follow is to ask my parent first. Even if I want to play a game on my iPad or get on the family computer to do homework, I always ask. It is important for your parents to know what you are doing on the internet.
Avoid using your full name
Sometimes, we are asked to enter a name when on a site or a video game. It is best that you never give your full name. This helps to make sure that that bad people on the internet will not find out who you are.
Hard to guess Usernames and Passwords
When we sign up for a new website, such as a new app for school or game, we are sometimes asked to enter a username and password. When creating a username and password, it is important to remember to make your username hard for a person to guess your real name. I suggest that you use only your first name or last name. Not both.
When creating a password, make sure your new password is not easy to guess, such as "password".
Do not provide your personal details
Sometimes, people may try to ask where you live, or what school do you go to. It is always best that you do not answer these questions and tell your parents right away.
